Rihanna: Chris' Mom Approves!

rihanna and chris
Rihanna's got mom's seal of approval.
The hitmaking beauty made a trip to GBK Productions' Fire & Ice gifting lounge for the BET Awards over the weekend with her boyfriend, fellow music hotshot Chris Brown and his mom, Joyce Hawkins.
Hawkins, according to a source, was overheard cooing, "Rihanna is the sexiest and sweetest girl Chris has ever dated."
And for once, the superprivate lovebirds weren't so private during their hour-or-so-long visit to the lounge. "They came through holding hands and kissing each other on the neck," says the source.
Both Rihanna and Brown also took home their own $5,000 gold watches from Croton, Grace hats, handblown glass art from Robert Kaindl and iPod cases from Guilty Couture. Rihanna also grabbed three pairs of Australia Love Collective boots, including the Vixen, the Nomad and the Party Nomad and helped Brown pick out a couple of pairs of New Balance running shoes.
Sounds like a good day was had by all.

Brown and Rihanna Romance Still a Mystery

rihanna Rihanna and Chris Brown are still keeping fans guessing about the state of their relationship after they came up with different answers to the dating question at the BET Awards on Tuesday.
Just a day after Brown's mother cooed about the "Umbrella" singer at a pre-awards gift lounge event, the sexy Barbados-born star was still insisting she's single.
Speaking on the red carpet at the BET Awards, Rihanna said, "We aren't dating; we're very good friends."

But when Brown was asked if he and Rihanna were an item backstage, he playfully said, "Possibly, possibly!"
And his mom hopes the two really are dating -- she was overheard telling a friend, "She's the sexiest and sweetest girl Chris has ever dated."
The couple has become inseparable in recent weeks and rumors of a romance were sparked when the pair was spotted kissing and cuddling in a fast food restaurant last month.

RIHANNA CAUGHT HER DAD SMOKING CRACK

Rihanna's Dad Ronald

BRIt AWARDS 2008 with MasterCard EXCLUSIVE: RIHANNA'S YEARS OF HELL

Superstar Rihanna's dad told last night of his shame after she caught him smoking crack cocaine when she was just nine years old.

Ronald Fenty revealed how the singer - who hopes to win best international female artist at Wednesday's glitzy Brits awards do in London - watched him indulge his lethal habit as she peered through a gap in the kitchen door.

Ronald revealed: "I turned and looked Rihanna in the eye and instantly came back down from the high I was on. I saw her run for her mother, ask her something and then they both started to cry. I had no idea she had been watching.

"It was the lowest point - life just stopped and I realised what a fool I had been."

The moment tore apart Ronald and Rihanna's lives. He was thrown out of the family home in Barbados and stopped from seeing his daughter. But Ronald, 54, managed to kick the drugs and now plays a full part in her life - even joining the 19-year-old sensation on tour. He has also done his best to warn her off drugs - though he's sure she wouldn't touch them anyway.

"I spent 25 years doing drugs so I know the devastation they cause," he said. "Last year I sat her down and said, 'Rihanna don't make the mistakes I did. Don't do drugs'.

"You see so many young people find fame then lose their heads. I begged her not to do a Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan. She looked me in the eyes and said, 'Dad don't be stupid'. She won't go down the path I went down. She's too smart."

The worlds of Rihanna, who has a million-pound pad in Los Angeles, and Ronald, who lives in his aunt's modest home, could hardly be more different.

When the Sunday Mirror tracked down the father-of-five in Bridgetown, Barbados, he was hawking tacky toys, perfume and household items from the boot of a battered Nissan car.

But he's used to a life on the streets. Growing up, Ronald was scoring crack cocaine and cannabis at only 14. He took drugs through high school, where he met Rihanna's mother Monica.

Despite a relationship littered with rows - mainly over his drug-taking - the pair married in 1985. But after Rihanna, their first child, was born in 1988 Ronald would disappear on cocaine binges for days on end. Monica was often left alone to cope with Rihanna and younger brothers Rorrey and Rajad.

Ronald said: "I was out of control. I would let my wife and my children down time and time again. I was not a good dad or husband."

Yet amid the chaos Rihanna, nicknamed Pinky because she loved pink clothes, was blossoming into a singer. Aged three she would stand in front of the mirror, hairbrush in hand, singing along to Whitney Houston's Saving All My Love For You.

At seven she was displaying the incredible voice which today sells millions of records and could earn her the best female artist award at the Brits. Ronald remembers her singing A Whole New World from Disney's Aladdin. "I was in the lounge and heard this angelic singing from the balcony," he said. "I looked out and it was Rihanna. My heart jumped. I knew then she was special."

But two years on Rihanna saw her father smoking crack. Ronald said: "It was the turning point. Monica chucked me out and we never patched things up. I knew I could carrying on taking drugs and die or stop and see my children grow up. I still thank God every day I chose to stop - I live for my children now."

And, despite his daughter's millions, he never asks for a penny and insists he's happy in his work, which earns him around £250 for a seven-day week. He said: "The only thing I want is to be a part of her life. I have had her forgiveness, which you can't put a price on, and I would never dream of asking her for a dollar."

Rihanna, who won a Grammy in Los Angeles last week for Umbrella, will be hoping for more of the same at the Brits, where she will perform the smash hit with The Klaxons.

And Ronald will be watching with pride on satellite TV. "I would have loved to have gone to London but, unless Rihanna calls and says, 'Hey dad, jump on a plane', then I will be watching on TV with a bottle of beer," he said.

Rihanna and Chris Get Shady

Rihanna and Chris Brown

Want more evidence of a potentially budding romance between Rihanna and Chris Brown?

I heard the two were doing a little swagging together at the Grammys. A fellow swagger told me they hit the official awards gifting suite to find some new sunglasses.

The two music superstars arrived together but were careful about not leaving any photographic evidence behind. They declined having their pictures taken.

Even so, Rihanna walked away with a fierce pair of Balenciaga shades while her 18-year-old maybe-boyfriend took home two pairs of oversize Marc Jacobs glasses in red and blue.

My spy also informed me that at one point “Chris was telling her they needed to go, and in seconds they were gone.”

Rihanna Tops "Sexy Cut" List

rihanna, sexy cut list

Ever wonder why Hollywood stars change their hair color and make drastic cuts? Sexy Rihanna tops the "cut and color" list from In Touch Weekly as the Hollywood star that has made the most of a drastic switch to create a wild buzz. The sexy starlet is on a roll, and from brunette to blond and curly to straight, she tops the list of stars that love switching their styles.

When she first appeared on the scene, Rihanna’s long, flowy and wavy hair fit right in with her girl-next-door image. But when the 20-year-old Barbados native wanted to unleash her edgier side, she ignored her record label’s wishes and headed to the salon for a big change.

"My image was boring — very innocent and girlie,” she explains. “I was tired of being pushed around, so I cut my hair. I didn’t ask anybody, I just did it. I have a lot of attitude now and I’m not afraid to let it out!” Following the debut of her now infamous jet-black bob in March, the singer recently stepped out with an even shorter ’do.

“She’s always looking for a change,” her stylist, Ursula Stephen, tells In Touch. “We looked at some pictures for inspiration and she was just like, ‘Okay let’s do it! Let’s cut it!’” As for Rihanna’s ever-evolving style, Ursula says: “She’s coming into her own. She’s becoming her own woman.”

Rihanna Celebrates with Chris Brown

rihanna chris brown

Friends threw Rihanna a surprise birthday party last night, but it seems the singer's been keeping a secret of her own: her romance with R&B crooner Chris Brown. The Grammy-winning girl showed up at the bash—held in a private room at Les Deux—hand in hand with her man. It's a hookup made in hip-hop heaven!

"Rihanna looked so happy and excited to be there," says one partygoer. When the birthday babe, in a lacy, cream-colored tube top and a pencil skirt, hit the ladies' room, Chris busted out some of his signature moves. The talented dude even had a dance-off with another guest.

At 1:45 a.m., the deejay played Rihanna's megahit "Umbrella" in her honor. Now that we know she's spending QT with Chris, is it too soon to ask when another duet is coming? Fingers crossed!

Rihanna's 20th Birthday Party

rihanna 20th birthday party

Rihanna celebrated her 20th birthday at Les Deux in Hollywood, with Kanye West, actor Wilmer Valderrama and her maybe-boyfriend Chris Brown. The party included a cupcake fight and a special a capella version of "Happy Birthday" sung by Brown.

Rihanna and Brown are currently denying a relationship, but a party guest says the two were cuddling and acting "very cozy all night." Below is a photo of the two from a post-Grammy party.

Rihanna takes gym-going very seriously

Rihanna

You know the difference between us and celebrities? They go to the gym a lot more.

In fact, they spend so much time in the gym, they don't even bother changing into normal outfits when they pop out to the supermarket. Or "grocery store", as our American cousins would call it.

And here's a case in point: Rihanna, snapped this weekend going to a grocery store and yet clearly dressed for the gym.

Although maybe she's just read all that stuff in magazines that tell us that you can work off 300 calories an hour doing the shopping, and so on? And got dressed accordingly. Now if only we'd caught her doing squat thrusts down Aisle Five....

Rihanna doing well

RIHANNA'S TOTAL WORLD-WIDE record sales are approaching the ten million mark in just three years.

And in addition to her massive fan base in the United States, the teenaged Bajan singing sensation has a "huge" following in Europe, Japan and other countries.

This was disclosed by her mentor, Evan Rogers, the American composer and music producer who spotted the then 16-year-old Robyn Rihanna Fenty's talent three years ago while on a trip here with his Barbadian wife, Jackie.

It was he and his wife who encouraged the aspiring singer's parents to allow Rihanna to go to Connecticut to seek success in the entertainment industry.

"She is just a great talent in this global music business," Rogers said in commenting on the singer's six Grammy Award nominations last Friday.

"I feel proud and I feel like I am walking on air," he added.

"It's three years of hard work and now to see it come to what you have always dreamed is beyond words. I just can't describe it.

"I was hoping that she would get nominated and I thought we deserve to. I thought we should have gained a nomination last year, but to get six now and two of the biggest, that exceeds all of our dreams."

Evans' wife, Jackie, a former executive of the Barbados Tourism Authority in New York, said she too "was walking on air for Rihanna" and described it as the "most deserving and remarkable thing that could happen" to anyone.

Jackie, who served as a surrogate mother during the star's initial days in the United States, driving her to and from appointments, described Rihanna as a "very talented and extremely appreciative young woman who takes things in stride".

Last Friday it was announced that Rihanna's was nominated for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Dance Recording, Best R&B Song, Best Rap/Song Collaboration and Best R&B Performance.

The 50th annual Grammy Awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on February 10 and will be broadcast live on CBS Television.

The Grammy ballots for the final round of selection were scheduled to be mailed out to the academy's voting members this week.

They are due back to the accounting firm of Deloitte by January 9. The results will be tabulated and kept secret until the telecast.

Rihanna’s Tour Keeps Rolling Through Europe

rihanna, rihanna sexy
As her European tour rolls along, Rihanna continues to add to an already impressive international following - and the R&B superstar still can’t believe it.

Most recently, the Umbrella singer donned her dominatrix costume and hit the stage in Glasgow on Friday night. From there, it was off to London, where she’s taking the stage on Sunday (December 16).

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Times Online, the Barbados native talked about past dates on her tour - and how she’s amazed by the turnout.

Rihanna tells, “I did a show in Belgrade. We were expecting 6,000 people and 24,000 showed up. And I couldn’t understand why. I...”

Nearly in tears, the 19-year-old continued, “I look at them and I still think, ‘Why are you screaming for me?’ I still think of myself as a normal girl.”

Rihanna Wants To Tour With Winehouse

rihanna sexy, rihanna nude, rihanna winehouse
R&B sensation Rihanna wants Amy Winehouse to rid herself of drugs and alcohol so the pair can tour the U.S together.

Winehouse – who has been taking time out from her career after her much publicised drugs over dose on August 8 – looked fragile during her musical comeback at the Mercury Music Prize awards on Tuesday.

But the Umbrella star believes that all is but lost for the gifted soul singer.

"I'm worried about Amy” said the 19-year-old “I want her to get better as I love her.

"There's not a doubt in my mind she can still be successful in America even though she's been linked to drugs.

"It'd be awesome to go on tour with her in the States. I'd love her to join me."

How hot would that be?

Rihanna wants a sexy dominatrix theme for UK tour.

‘Umbrella’ singer Rihanna, who set to begin a series of concerts in December this year- has said that she is keen to wow fans with her revealing S+M-themed costumes and kinky dance routines.

Rihanna told British newspaper The Daily Star: “The tour is going to be very rock star, very sexy with a dominatrix theme.

“I’m very involved with the creative process. We have been busy planning, coming up with costume ideas.”

The singer has said that she refuses to be sidelined during the organization of the shows, saying: “I have professionals who guide me, but I like to know what’s going on and make suggestions that we collaborate on.”

19-year-old Rihanna also revealed she is being lined up to launch her own clothing range.

She said: “I can’ say any brand names until the deal is signed, but it’s happening.”

Video Music Awards nominations rain down on Rihanna's "umbrella"

rihanna sexy, rihanna nude, rihanna umbrella, 2007 mtv music awards
Rihanna is slated to perform at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night at 8 on MTV. and Beyoncé is a nominee at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, airing Sunday on MTV.

When it rains, it pours, and Rihanna can thank her Umbrella for a shower of MTV Video Music Award nominations.

The young singer has four bids going into the 2007 edition of the event, which the cable music channel televises Sunday, September 9, from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. She's also set to perform on the show, as are Kanye West, Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy and Chris Brown.

So is Timbaland, slated for extra duty by hosting a 'Fantasy Suites' party with Justin Timberlake, who leads the pack (along with Beyoncé) with seven nominations.

Featuring Jay-Z, Umbrella - the first single off Rihanna's third CD, Good Girl Gone Bad - has been one of the top songs of the summer. It's a 2007 VMA nominee for video of the year and monster single of the year and has also garnered nods for Rihanna as female artist of the year and Chris Applebaum as best director.

Rihanna takes special pride in those acknowledgments since, as she says, "It's not the typical summer song. It's not up-tempo and not really a club song, just something very powerful that happened to come along at the right time. The first time I heard it, I fell in love with it. For once, I didn't think, 'I wonder if people are going to like it.' I knew what it was in my heart. I had my own instinct, and I felt it was going to do great."

Rihanna was right: The tune roared onto the airwaves in March, preceding the album's release by a couple of months and reaching the top of several Billboard magazine charts simultaneously. It displays another aspect of Rihanna's talent, following the energetic SOS and the introspective Unfaithful, her hits from the album A Girl Like Me that also gave her a big summer last year.

Musical variety

"That's key for me," the 19-year-old Barbados native says of her musical variety. "When I started, I didn't really have a plan. I was just very excited to have a record deal and make music and perform all over the world. I had a little more input on the second album, then the third album was where I really got into it. I wanted to change my image and my sound a bit, and I really wanted to show people my growth. When I leave this industry, I want to be remembered for being an individual."

Among the situations in which Rihanna has performed Umbrella, a standout for her was Live Earth, the international July concert to promote environmental awareness.

"It was such an honour to be there," she says. "It was a huge event all over the world, but it was also just a great show. I was in Japan, and the audience was amazing, to see them singing all the words. They may not speak any English, but they know all the words to all the songs."

Gratified as she is to have such fans, Rihanna also relies on a strong support system of friends. "I could not ask for better cheerleaders," she says. "They always have my back. They'll still let me know if something was just OK or really horrible, but they're team players, for sure."

Rihanna feels the same way about MTV, which showcased her American television debut at the MTV Movie Awards in June.

"From day one, they've played all my videos and helped support my albums," she says. "I show them so much love because they show it in turn."

In showing hers, Rihanna says she is planning "a very special performance" for the VMAs but adds, "I won't tell you anything!"

She also welcomes any chance to depart from the norm.

"I've performed SOS hundreds of times," she says, "and with something like Unfaithful, it's very deep, so you have to act it out every time. After a while, it can get to be like, 'OK, do I have to perform this again?' For some reason, though, every time I perform Umbrella is like the first time. It's always new."

Yielding singles

Good Girl Gone Bad is still in its early phase of yielding singles (among them Shut Up and Drive and Don't Stop the Music), so Rihanna isn't actively thinking about her next album yet. However, she reflects, "Being around Timbaland (on the day the VMA nominations were announced), it made me want to get back in the studio to make good music. I really enjoy working with people like him, but you have to step back and say to yourself, 'OK, hold off. You just put out an album.'

That could make the Video Music Awards challenging for Rihanna, since she'll be around many other stars she also considers inspirations.

"They have their own faith in things," she reasons, "and you can see their success. Kanye West, for instance, he has so much input into everything, and you see that it comes across as very authentic. Justin Timberlake is another one I really adore. I also love Fall Out Boy and, of course, Beyoncé and Madonna. Gwen Stefani is another great one.

"I love being at events like this," she continues. "You're working, but you're working with people who do the same thing as you. It's a great energy, with everyone getting along and making jokes. That's why I love award shows."

But don't suggest being nominated in next year's Grammy Awards to Rihanna, at least not yet.

"If it pops up in my mind, I just have to shut it down," she says. "I can't think about it. I'm getting nervous already."

Rihanna is slated to perform at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday on MTV.
